LA Times features “Pages from a Bahia Diary”

If you picked up the LA Times, you might have seen its feature titled “Datebook: Bahia in art, a Mexican artist’s trippy installations, a chronicle of L.A. protests”.

One of the main featured exhibits during PST highlighted by the Times is our very own and here’s what they had to say;

J. Michael Walker, “Pages from a Bahia Diary,” at Gallery 38.
In 2011, the Los Angeles artist traveled to Bahia for a fellowship courtesy of the Sacatar Foundation, and that journey inspired the works in this one-man show. On view are portraits of women from Bahia rendered on antiquarian texts — in this case, a Dutch book documenting colonial Brazil in the 17th century. Opens Saturday at 7 p.m. and runs through Oct. 29. 5376 W. Adams Blvd., West Adams, Los Angeles, gallery38.com.

“Pilgrimage to Yemenja (Portrait of Anahita),” 2017, by J. Michael Walker at Gallery 38.
